PinDown started as a small side project to solve one annoying problem: Pinterest lets you save a Pin to a board, but it doesn't make it easy to actually keep the video, image, or GIF file on your own device.
PinDown reads a public Pinterest link you paste in, works out whether it points to a video, an image, or a GIF, and hands you back a direct link to the original file — the same one Pinterest's own servers already host. We don't re-encode, resize, or watermark anything. You can also paste a public board URL to pick and save several pins from that board at once as a ZIP.
When you paste a link, our server requests the public Pinterest page exactly the way your browser would, then looks for the media file Pinterest already embeds in that page — either a direct video file or the original-resolution image. That file is streamed straight from Pinterest's own content delivery network (pinimg.com) to your device. We don't store a copy, and we don't keep a history of what's been downloaded.
Pull reference images at full resolution instead of the compressed preview Pinterest shows you.
Keep a local copy of a video tutorial or GIF so it's there even if the original Pin is deleted.
Download once and view offline, rather than reloading a Pin every time you want to check it.
